But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. For this cyborg, power is just an upgrade away. Emmett was used to being caught between college and his engineering internship, but when he gets caught between a powerful hero and an even stronger villain, he becomes collateral damage. Instead of dying, he wakes up a cyborg. Turns out his boss wasn't just an eccentric inventor, and the old man just gave him a shining opportunity to be a hero. Except that's just the beginning, and things are about to get a lot more complicated. His boss has his own agenda. The boss's daughter has her own power armor. His roommate works for an evil corporation. And Emmett is small fry. Just a Class 1 hero. Superheroes aren't just masks-some work for corporations, or for the government and the military, and even as mercenaries in wars. Shadowy cabals pull the strings of hero and villain alike. The city of Belport might be peaceful for now, but most of the world is in turmoil. If Emmett is going to have any chance at making a difference, he needs to get stronger. A lot stronger. This is an erotic romance. Recommended 18+! Completed. Excerpt: His mouth was back on mine in an instant, the door behind us rattling loudly as he thrust against me. "Does the geriatric kiss you like this?" He mumbled against me as his teeth nipped at my already swollen lips. I pulled back once more, my heighted state of emotions, my anger taking over. "What if I said I don't want you?" A devilish grin took over as one of his hands slid along my thigh, under my skirt, his fingers tracing over the soft, damp material of my underwear. His mouth moved down to my neck, nipping at the juncture between my shoulder and neck. "I would call you a fucking liar." I tried to bite back the moan as his teeth skimmed my neck, before sinking in hard, his fingers pushing under the edge of my panties. He hesitated for a moment, waiting for me to stop him. I didn't want him to stop. One finger slid over my folds before pushing into my entrance, sinking in deep. He groaned in pleasure, his erection twitching against my core as his finger began to move. "I can feel just how much you want me." **** Lucian Vanderbrooke has been labeled many things in his lifetime. Bad boy, asshole, troublemaker, pornstar, the list goes on. He is nicknamed Lucifer for a reason. He gets who he wants, when he wants. Everything changes when he sets his sights on his twin sisters' best friend, his childhood friend who he has always had a love/hate relationship with. Abigail Davidson is a determined redheaded spitfire who doesn't take attitude from anyone. She has secretly been in love with her best friend's brother for her entire life, even though every sensible thought she has is telling her to hate the arrogant asshole. It is a love that she can't act on. A love that must remain hidden. That pact they made when they were 16, doesn't mean anything... right? Standalone spin off from the Distorted Windows Trilogy. Can be read on its own but it is recommended to read the others first.
