Amy and Evan Bowers' lives sucked. They were forced to stay with their abusive aunt and uncle, and their ignorant daughter, after their parents died when they were young. Now, they wanted a change. They run away, trying to find a new place to call home. A mysterious rebellion find them, and they are brought to the place where they are located. Things slowly start unravelling about their past, and they must re-integrate into this new place to call home. As their lives slowly begin to improve, all hell breaks loose with the International Corporation of People. Will Amy and Evan beat the virus and come out alive, or will they become another victim to the plot to wipe out the population?

Charlotte wants nothing to do with Nate or the girl who looks like her dead sister. She does not want to go through the grief of losing people again if something bad was to happen. And something bad does happen when Emmi is kidnapped, and it is no one's fault but Charlotte's. Through this obligation alone, Charlotte feels like it is her responsibility to get Emmi back, to right her wrong. In helping Nate pursue his kidnapped daughter, Charlotte inadvertently allows herself to feel again, to care for those other than herself.
