Before the fall of Wall Maria-before the smoke, the screaming, the giant that nearly ended everything-there was a girl who was supposed to help destroy an entire people.

Trained as the "fifth shifter." Conditioned to obey.
But the more she learned, the harder the lies were to swallow. No one is born evil. No one deserves to be erased because someone else says so.

So she runs.

She shifts and flees across an island she was taught to fear, trapped in a body built by science and haunted by a conscience she can't shut off. A weapon on the verge of breaking.

And then a squad in green cloaks tears her from the titan shell she's been suffocating in-led by a commander who sees too much and a raven-haired soldier whose quiet stare lingers a little too long. They don't know her, don't trust her... yet somehow, they don't let her fall.

Now she has to decide who she is: the monster she was made to be... or something else entirely.

Blood is coming. Choices are coming.
And standing beside the people who saved her-one in particular who keeps catching her off guard-might be the only way to make her life mean something at last.
