       Life in the Outlands is harsh and unforgiving. The disabled are executed and the working are treated like slaves. Daya was literally in a world of darkness from the start. Everyone is slowly withering away, including her parents at her expense. With them in mind, she leaves her feeble home in the middle of the desert on her own. Death stares her in the face from the laws imposed on the Outlands and she can only hope to escape without being noticed. But what if someone is willing to help her fight back instead?

	Inside the imperial walls there is even more secrecy. The more unstable a government becomes, the more a cruel and power-hungry ruler requires someone to do his every bidding.
