Desde que eu me lembro minha vida tem sido um inferno, meu pai me culpa pela morte da minha mãe, que morreu no meu parto, e me bate sempre que tem chance, se eu não estou na escola eu estou trabalhando pra poder pagar o aluguel, as contas, a comida e os vícios do meu pai, além da maquiagem que eu uso pra tentar cobrir os roxos que ficam aparentes. Fora de casa eu não tenho vida social, vivo na biblioteca lendo alguma coisa. Nem minha melhor amiga, a Sarah, sabe do que acontece em casa. Mas um dia tudo mudou e agora, nesse exato momento, eu estou em um hospital pensando "que merda que tá acontecendo?"
