Mantello didn't know anything about being a knight, but when a friend of his father comes to their village it begins a crazy, uncontrolled whirlwind of adventure, mystery, and pain. He must fight his way across the nation of Makandela under the tutelage of Kevlon, a member of an ancient order known as Knights. He will learn all of the qualities and skills that are required of him as he trains to fight against the evil invading Ulb Empire. He is followed by Janeyla, the girl of his dreams, Gormus, an old mercenary friend of his mentor, and Whitlock, Kevlon's hound who just wants a bone.
