Some people pretend they're strong. They do not wish to be rescued. But stronger people gravitate towards them because their true identity betrays their need to act strong. They're the ones who are always saved.
But there are those people who need saving. Everyone calls them strong. Nobody listens to their cries for help. everybody walked by, deaf and blind to my distress.
I was drowning in front of them. And even though they knew how to swim, they didn't jump in the water with me. They didn't save me.
And then he happened.
He gave me a hand, kept me afloat and pulled me ashore. He gave me dry clothes and he wrapped me in a blanket. He cuddled me as we stood on the bridge and gazed at the night sky.
And then with a smile, he pushed me off the bridge.
That was when I realized, he pulled me out, but he didn't teach me to swim.
As the darkness overtook the light, the green turned to sage.
