The war, nearly won in Outworld's favor, ended with the elder gods meeting Shao Kahn's forces with a bargain. A tournament of Earthrealm and Outworld's forces was made to give Earthrealm a chance in the senseless fighting against Shao Kahn and his goal to conquer Earthrealm, the Mortal Kombat tournament. Raiden sought out chosen warriors to help him in his attempt to save the realm.
