Fifteen-year-old Vivian Hayman came out, accidentally, as gay shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in favor of same-sex marriage two and a half years ago. And she knows, if her mother had a choice in the matter, she would just be a lesbian, too. Her older half-sister, Taylor, an engaged event planner obsessed with weddings, has been planning a huge "lesbian wedding" for her, despite the fact that she has yet to find herself in a committed relationship. So when Vivian and her mother move to be closer to her grandfather, Vivian leaves behind the tight queer friendships she had formed, as well as her small sense of belonging in the world. When she meets and becomes closer to a classmate, who happens to be a guy, Vivian finds that she feels attracted to him, in turn questioning everything she thought she valued most about herself and her queer identity.
Danny, a fifteen/sixteen year old boy struggles with loving himself and accepting who he is, grows up and gradually finds out that he has feelings for boys. He is surrounded by a cruel world in which he can't escape, but when fifteen year old Kyle moves across the street, Danny's world is turned upside down. They both go through ups and downs with each other and sometimes it's them against the world, but will they establish a romantic relashionship, stick to being friends, or just ignore each other all together.
