Logan Clark is a math teacher at Sanders Middle School. One day, after class, Principal Sanders comes in and introduces Patton Morales, and his adopted son, Virgil. Patton is going to be the new guidance counselor, and Virgil is going to be a student. Logan doesn't think much of Patton at first, but after getting to know him, Logan starts to wonder if Patton is more than a friend to him...
Meanwhile, Virgil is at a real school for the first time. On his first day, he doesn't make any friends, but he does meet an annoying, over-dramatic, narcissistic...and kind of cute boy named Roman.

He gets placed in a cabin with not only Roman, but his two other friends Patton and Logan. The four of them are also in an activity group together, which means that the four of them will be around each other for most, if not all, of the 72-hour period. So, here Virgil is.
