Young Beatrice has been living in her older brother's shadow her entire life. No matter how hard she tried, it was never enough. He made her Brazilian family proud. He had a perfect skin tone, just dark enough to be swooned over, but just light enough to not be harassed. His Portuguese was perfect. He was a soccer star.
