This story focuses on a group of pilgrims as they are thrust into a world of violence and chaos by a series of sudden attacks during the final days of World Youth Day 2013. It follows them from the point of view of a 22 year old girl named Cass as she makes the decisions as to how she will lead her group to safety through the treacherous city of Rio De Janeiro. Even through all that is going on around her she tries to make the others hopeful in the belief that they will find safety just beyond the city. This is their luminescent light, this idea that they may be able to survive after everything that has happened and this idea glows in them, but not like that of the suns warm, but more of cold glow that only further enlightens the viewers eyes to a world of filled with shadows.

Even so, there's only one way out of the war, and that involves travelling for weeks, all the while avoiding a new breed of vampires, seemingly indestructible monsters. The taint inside her makes Jessica strong, but if she loses herself to it, her own father will take her life. If the vampires don't kill her, her father just might...
