This book is based on the song No Below by Speedy Ortiz. Every chapter is named a lyric (aside from chapter one.) I didn't mark this book as "mature" because there are some pretty important points people need to understand in it. But, if you're triggered easily I suggest not reading this (even though it's good ;) ) because it talks about suicide, bullying, eating disorders, assault, and school shootings. Serenity is new to North Burrow Highschool as well as the city of New Kingston. And the fact that she broke her knee right before school started, doesn't help with all the unwanted stares she receives. Everyone treats her like a parasite, distant, not wanting her disease. Elliot hasn't had any friends since seventh grade. No one bothers and he's given up all the motivation to try. His teachers and peers don't appreciate him because of his complicated personality. He doesn't like interaction or being put on the spot. "Excuse me?" "What do you want?" "Just wondering if anyone's sitting her, idiot." "Go away." "I'll pass." "Serenity, right?" "Unfortunately."
