The quiet, Compact town of Newark, Ohio holds a secret. After the death of his mother, Malachi Grey moved to the lovely city of London, England as a painter. A funeral visitation leaves Malachi with some startling questions about his past, and he sets off to Beautiful Newark, Ohio to find some answers. However, when he finds a Simple Gun in the cellar of his fathers cellar, he begins to realize that things are not quite as they seem in the Grey family. At first the people of Newark are intuitive and Mysterious. He is intrigued by the curiously Outgoing So called friend, Connor Baker. However, after he introduces him to hard Alcohol, Malachi finds that he could slowly be drawn into a web of murder, arson and perhaps, even suicide. Can Malachi resist the charms of Connor Baker and uncover the secret of the Simple Gun before it's too late, or will his demise become yet another Newark legend?
