A heart warming and humorous account of how Maggie an Peter came to live on a 42ft Narrow boat called 'Rainbow II' during the 1990's an travelled hundreds of miles on the canal waterways system with their motley crew of cats.  Living many years through all seasons in harmony with the elements and without mod cons and home comforts it is an intriguing insight into a completely unique way of life perhaps best described as a rather special 'last retreat'.  But not always one of plain sailing as there were many challenges and dramatic incidents which brought about tragedies and heartaches.    However, happiness overcame difficult times and above all the ability to laugh at life and each other reigned supreme.   The amazing antics and endearing behaviour of the cats injects a magic additional theme to the book.
