In the course of a single day, the young queen of Cezia, Tamia Kilgstern, witnessed foreign invaders ransack her city, burn her kingdom to the ground, and murder her husband in cold blood. The people she had swore to protect as queen are now oppressed and subjugated under the rule of the infamous Aysen Goldfear, the Lion of Rodeli.
