The drawling series of clicks was only making my heart beat faster. They were getting closer. I took off running again, faster this time. I couldn't stop running. If I did, surely I would die. My throat was dry and my skin slick with sweat. I'm sure I looked like a complete wreck but there was no one out here to judge me. Grinding my teeth I swerved around a bend, only to run smack dab into someone's chest. I bounced off of him, either because he was muscular or because I was just that frail.
