“Do you really think you two are right for each other? I mean come on. You only find one soul mate, and you think he is yours?” he asked while tears started to form in Gracie’s eyes. “Who is your soul mate, Gracie? Because I know who mine is. So who? Who is your soul mate, or who you think your soul mate is?”
“Carter—“ she started her voice barely a whisper.
“No, don’t even. Gracie, you only have one person you are right for. One person you were meant to be with. Goddammit Gracie. Don’t you see it? I can‘t stay here and watch you love someone else,” he paused, “Gracie, my plane leaves for New York tomorrow morning. The only reason I hadn’t left yet, was you. Now that I've lost you, I'm leaving.”
“Carter, please don’t,” she pleaded tears slipping loose on to her face and down to her blouse.
“If you love me, tell me to stay. Tell me and I’ll stay. But only for you.” He told her looking flat out depressed. Nothing was said. Carter’s eyes filled with tears, but he blinked them back. “Okay,” he croaked out, “you’ve made your decision. All I want is for you to be happy.”
Carter turned away for a moment, but turned back, “Goodbye Gracie.” And with that he turned his back again and walked out the door of the apartment. All Rights Reserved
