"Don't you like saving the city? It all seems super cool, you and the others must love it."

He looked out over the view of the city from my window, sitting on my window seat. "Sometimes us heroes need breaks, did you know that?" He sounded stressed, but I dared not ask.

I'm not a hero, he knows that. I guess it's hard being praised and having to save people all the time. Then you have to balance being a hero with your civilian life, and it wasn't a secret that some of these heroes were still teens in school; that must be a real pain. I'd probably understand better if I was a hero.

He chuckles. "You probably would," He sighs, "Although we love being admired from civilians and saving people, we still need a break from our hero lives."

"I'm guessing the criminals are a pain too, they just keep coming back even stronger."

He looks back at me, grinning. "That's why we're starting the alliance just like you suggested, those criminals won't hurt you or anyone anymore."

And even though Kelly wants to be a hero, she realizes it's harder than she thought.

When trying to help a dog being abused by a group of drunks and almost getting hurt herself, Kelly is saved by Knightsville's most famous hero, Shifter. And ever since that day, she's felt like a hero herself..or sidekick?

But what happens when villains seem to overpower her city's heroes, what will she do to help then?

WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

Kalia's POV : Freedom ain't real. It's just a pretty lie people tell themselves to sleep better at night. Me? I've never been free. Not when I was born into a life where people used me like a tool. Not when I thought I escaped, only to get dragged back in. And sure as hell not now, trapped in a marriage I never wanted with a man who loves me like an addiction-obsessive, toxic, suffocating. Easton swears I belong to him. Calls me his, like I'm a possession, not a person. But I was never meant to be owned. Not by him. Not by anyone. And yet... I'm craving the one person I can't have. The one man I shouldn't want. Jay Kim. My husband's best friend. The only person who looks at me like I'm more than a pawn in someone else's game. The only man who's ever made me feel safe. But love in this world? It don't come without consequences. And choosing Jay? That'd be the kind of mistake that gets people killed. Jay's POV: I never wanted this empire. It was my uncle's before me-a kingdom built on blood, corruption, and greed. But when he fell, I had two choices: take control or let worse men have it. So I took it. And now? I'm doing what he never could. I'm fixing the mess he left behind. Cleaning up the dirt while keeping the wolves from tearing it apart. But then she came back. Kalia Gomez. The only woman who's ever made me want something outside of this life. The one I can't have-because she belongs to someone else. Not just anyone, either. Easton. My friend. My brother in arms. I should walk away. Should forget about the way she looks at me when no one's watching. Should ignore the way my pulse fucking riots every time she's close. But it's too late for that. Because I might be trying to clean up this empire... But for Kalia? I'd burn it all down.

No where for her to run, but everywhere she wished she could. To her, there is no such thing as hero's, for if there where, she surely would have been saved by now. 2 years later, she is 8, she doesn't talk, she is beaten, she's tested on, and yet, Hydra can't seem to get her to do their bidding. Her silver eyes, never dulled, just lost the brightness that once filled her heart. "Hero's", she says, " are just made up fantasies for kids, to fill their minds with imagination. If hero's where real, then I would be saved from here long time ago." she feels no emotion, so it seems. She feels no pain, as it appears. But really, she just learned, to hold it on the inside. One day, she was suddenly pulled from one of her torture sessions, some of the agents, throwing her into a random cell. 2 staying just outside, watching, waiting. Then, they yank her out by the arms, pulling one out of its socket, dragging her somewhere else. For over a hundred years, humanity has lived in fear of the monsters that roam the streets, lurking in the drains below. Women and their daughters hide, protected in their homes, while men take their sons through the world, teaching them the responsibilities of having a family to feed and dangers to avoid. No one leaves the home unless it's essential, and most of the world prefers it that way. Until one girl spends her days perched on her window seat, looking down at the world below and dreaming of a different life. Her eyes are always drawn to the dark, ominous drains in the street, the ones that often blink open to swallow and person whole. One day, that person is her little brother, snatched right in front of her from their arms of their father and gone forever. When a person is snatched, they never return, and life goes on without them. But she can't accept that. Breaking all the rules, all the things she's ever known, she braves the world outside her little townhouse and goes on a mission into the darkness to find her brother. Only, it's soon her that becomes the one lost to the drains. To survive she must rediscover her world, and in the process, rediscover herself. She will be reunited with old friends, gain new ones, find out deeper secrets about her past than she ever could have imagined, and learn that the world is even more corrupt than she always thought. *** This story contains sexist ideology, mention of cheating, some gruesome scenes, and a whole lot of monsters and darkness. It isn't overly mature... there isn't much explicit language or sexual scenes, but there is a bit of violence, so just keep that in mind... and despite all that negativity, ENJOY!

"Who are you?" the supervillain asks. His breathless voice is surprisingly soft. I slam my hands on either side of him, leaning in so close my nose touches his mask. I'm the taller one. "It's 'Please Don't Kick My Sorry Butt,' but you can call me 'Too late, I Already Did.' " And I have to admit, that one I'm a little too proud of. ***Hey, hey! Now a Wattpad featured story!*** The superheroes are gone. For as long as Monet can remember, a league of superheroes has guarded her city. They were the citizens' idols, guardians, and best friends. Then, only months ago, those same heroes poofed, leaving the population at the mercy of a supervillain known as 'Masquerade.' As teen reporter and self-proclaimed defender of truth, justice, and the American way, Monet Jackson vows to do anything to find the heroes. And that "anything," unfortunately, includes taking a dip in a vat of toxic chemicals, being fired, and being hunted by Masquerade himself. But someone's gotta protect the city, and she might as well write a blog about it. *** WHAT'S INSIDE: 1 Kick-butt heroine +1 Love Triangle... or ...Love Quadrilateral... or...
