He looked out over the view of the city from my window, sitting on my window seat. "Sometimes us heroes need breaks, did you know that?" He sounded stressed, but I dared not ask.
I'm not a hero, he knows that. I guess it's hard being praised and having to save people all the time. Then you have to balance being a hero with your civilian life, and it wasn't a secret that some of these heroes were still teens in school; that must be a real pain. I'd probably understand better if I was a hero.
He chuckles. "You probably would," He sighs, "Although we love being admired from civilians and saving people, we still need a break from our hero lives."
"I'm guessing the criminals are a pain too, they just keep coming back even stronger."
He looks back at me, grinning. "That's why we're starting the alliance just like you suggested, those criminals won't hurt you or anyone anymore."

I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I reach behind me and pull my phone out, clicking on the message. I see Kevin's name at the top and I smile. I open the message and as I read it, I pay no attention to where I'm walking. As I read the first work of the message, I bump into a large figure with a hard chest. A gasp falls from my lips, my eyes tightly close and my hand raises in the air to catch anything that'll brace me from falling. When I expect my body to land on the concrete sidewalk, I feel a large hand wrap around my wrist, cathing me from hitting the ground. Tingles shoot up my arm from the persons touch. Tingles that turn into a flow of electricity that runs through my veins, then turns into a slow burn of fire. Fire I've felt before. My eyes slowly open and I'm met with the dark green eyes I haven't seen in the past two years. A sudden wash of Deja Vu hits me and I remember the first day we met three years ago. "Josephine." He softly whispers as if I'm not here. His voice soothes the ache of everything that has happened in the past couple of years, it makes every bad thought dissapear. His name flows out of my mouth so smoothing and easily like I never stopped saying it. It rolls off of my tongue and as soon as I say it out loud, I never want to stop saying it again. "Hero.." **** It's been 2 years. To long of a time to be away from the person you're destined to be with. Stuck in an abusive relationship, all because Hero couldn't leave her mind, Josephine struggles to get away. When she finally reunites with her long lost love, she finally has someone to run to who will help her. She's been through hell without him, but she's also had some triumph. Hero has been through hell without Josephine. So when he finally catches a glimpes at her again, he'll do anything to keep her with him. Have you ever had one of those terrible yet annoyingly pivotal moments? You know, that monumental fragment of time that flips everything you have ever known. That plot twist second that completely takes you by surprise. The one just before the storm hits and everything goes to hell. Yes? Because you see, that moment happens to be my whole damn life. It wasn't always like this though. I used to have a pretty mundane existence, happy to just get good grades and be around my friends. God I wish I could get that simplicity back, I'd never complain it was boring again. But I know I'm not going to ever get back my old life because well... I died. (Kinda) But I woke up. And I was thrilled, beyond grateful I wasn't dead. But then I realized that there was one minor detail that had changed about my reality. I was given the chance to live but it turns out I woke up as the villainess in an otome game my friend used to be obsessed with - Kingdom of freaking Hearts (I added the freaking in there for effect, it's just Kingdom of Hearts) Where, for the record, the villainess only has two possible endings 1) execution and 2) getting exiled. So Fate was like, "Don't worry, I'll save you. Here's a chance to live" and then was like "psyche, screw you. You're still going to die but I'll let you suffer a little first." So now, if only to annoy Fate by proving it wrong, I am determined to survive. I can and I will if I play by these simple rules: 1) Befriend Heroin 2) Avoid Aryn Edwards at All Costs as well as other capture targets And 3) Be the top student at the academy and become an invaluable asset to my Kingdom so I become indispensable, thus unkillable. I'm determined, stubborn, persistent and I will live passed 16. Fate made a big mistake setting me up to die. Since it threw this plot twist at me, I figure I'll return the favor. I'll be the biggest plot twist Fate never saw coming...

Add to that, the fact that somehow you got arrested because your cat sitter didn't take the day off and then you go around expressing your unconditional love for pancakes in a Super holding cell because technically they can't put you in a proper prison and you don't really have a choice because lawyers are expensive? You are on our land, if you are injured we'll help and get you on your way. We don't want trespassers.' Still I say nothing. 'Come on, you can't stay here come out or we'll have to come in after you.' I curl tighter around my babies and growl. No way would I let them near my babies. 'Now, now, we've been nice don't get unfriendly or we'll have to add to your injuries before we heal you.' Slipping to my feet I keep my body over my babies without squishing them. Whether it was my moving, my fear or they could smell our visitors but they began to whimper and squirm. Both lioness perk up at the sound. 'Stay away.' I tell them. 'You've babies? This is not the place for them.' One says, the other shifts her weight. 'The blood, you just gave birth didn't you? Where's your family? Can we call someone?' 'No. Go away, let me rest for a time and I'll take my babies and leave your territory.' 'You can't just wonder around with a newborn. How are you going to care for them. Come with us we'll take care of you until you get back on your feet.' 'No, I don't know you. Go away.' 'We won't hurt you.' I couldn't believe that, I couldn't trust these strangers. They were lions, lions were not known for being kind. I'd come out and they'd kill me and my babies.Complete
Hidden Truth
Carol is dropped into the plot of her favourite crime novel as a tragic side character with the same name. The character who shared her name was an unfortunate cannon fodder who died to advance the plot and further, the protagonist's drive to solve the crime and avenge his junior officer who was murdered by the final boss. Carol was only mentioned briefly. Maybe a total of 5 lines were used to describe her. She was an intern at the station fresh out of the police academy at the ripe age of 19. She wasn't even aware of the main case that the plot revolved around. The only reason to explain her death was being at the wrong place at the wrong time, which caused her to bump directly into the main villain as he was escaping the protagonist's chase midway through the book. The villain took her hostage as he noted her badge and lack of protective equipment and then killed her when the protagonist tried to negotiate terms rather than simply accepting his demands. Although the villain pulled the trigger, Carol couldn't help cursing out the protagonist when she read this scene as she felt he was equally responsible for her death. Carol ended up finishing the book anyway and as she read the last chapter a sense of frustration overcame her and she left a 'strongly worded' comment for the author, cursing out the protagonist as stupid and irresponsible, she preached that there was no reason to have killed off a 19-year-old girl like Carol (from the book) the way they did and how if a person with common sense faced that situation the girl would have lived. So when Carol awoke in the young girl's body, she had a few thoughts: what the hell is happening? how do I avoid dying? can I speed up the plot to save more lives? Along the way, Carol discovers a surprising ability hidden in the cannon fodders DNA. She has a mystical ability to physically see when a person lies and the actual truth.
