The story is set in 1853.
A Japanese slave girl becomes a samurai warrior. 
At the same time, four ships from the United States comes to Japan, and these Americans attempt to start a trade with the country.

(Now this might seem like a historical fiction but it's mostly romance. There's not much historical facts and all that Jazz. So I'm sorry for the history geeks out there - you might/might not enjoy this novel.)
