Inspired by a drabble by Firehedgehog on ao3.
When Nightmare took a bit of the black apple he lost everything. And he did not think he would ever have a chance to regain it, so why did it matter if he faded away once and for all?
A gamble pays off in unexpected ways and he find himself in a position to regain what matters the most out off what he had lost. He also got those that have experienced similar suffering as his own to help him.

Under the Apple Tree - a Crossmare fanfic
this story is based on a Manta series called 'Under the Oak tree' and is entirely inspired by that, there may be different takes as I will switch some things up, the ship is entirely Crossmare, side ships may be included. Nightmare, a Lord with his own campaign and land, was sealed into a marriage with Cross. found himself entangled in the war his father-in-law X was supposed to fight in, taking the older man's place. He left his spouse for a war that lasted 7 years.
