"She's a beauty. Look at how pale she is. Come on son choose her." Based off of the painting The Babylonian Marriage Market by Edwin Long, follow Dimitri Fresch an upper-classman in the search of the most beautiful women that he is to marry. "Come one come all! Here we have our finest, the palest and beautiful women here tonight!" *PLEASE READ* I mean not to harm or offend anyone in this story. I have tried not to make any racial slurs in it but the story itself is set in an era where such slurs were common. I know I am possibly risking getting foul comments by posting this story but I feel as if the historical factor needs to be known. Everything mentioned is based in the Victorian Era (1800) therefore all language will be alike what it was back then. Thank you. Bit of History- The Babylonian Marriage Market is an 1875 painting by the British painter Edwin Long of young women being auctioned into marriage.

When the captain of the army, Lucas, returns home victorious after the great war, all he wants is to be with his princess, Lorien. However, his joy withers when an unsuspecting visitor, Prince Samuel of a far country, comes to the kingdom, seeking Lorien's hand in marriage. For their forbidden love, both Lucas and Lorien are willing to fight and risk all for each other but when Lucas' dark secret is unveiled and a figure of his past reappears, his mistakes will be their downfall while Lorien must learn to hide her true self. When the soldier makes a wrongful sacrifice, it is now the princess who must pay for his wrong... What are they willing to give? How far are they willing to go? Who will pay the ultimate price and grant a soul for tomorrow? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hey all!! DISCLAIMER: This is a story I wrote in 2008 and it's the very first story that I wrote and finished when I started writing so I still have the whole story saved for the memories. But I recently discovered Wattpad thanks to a few lovelies (you all know who you are... *ahem* thanksgiving *ahem* ;) ) and I've decided to get back into writing. This story has a lot of meaning to me so I do intend to publish the whole story. I have published this story on the internet already on two different sites so if you do see it, just note that no, I didn't steal this story off someone else, I promise! :) If you are interested in seeing the unedited versions from 6 years ago, I'd be more than happy to send you the link via PM. In all honesty though, I have made a few embellishments. Nothing major, just the vocabulary really but the plot and characters are all completely the same. However, if you haven't read the unedited versions in the first place thenjust enjoy :P How often I update this story will be up to you guys and your feedback. If I get a positive response, then the next chapter will be up much sooner. All feedback is appreciate, even the baddies! :) Enjoy! Love you all E. Reignheart ~<3~
