Briseis Alighieri has only known the cold; she strays from human contact and instead wanders a nomad, going wherever life takes her. She meets strange, interesting people in her travels, and has come to be an urban legend of sorts based on the fact that she "connects" people to each other. Essentially, she delivers message back and forth between two parties lost to each other, either rekindling relationships or destroying them.
Despite this, she refrains from making any real relationships of her own. However, on her way to deliver another message, she meets Magnus: a boy who loves to talk, and unlike Briseis, make relationships with others. In his case, she begins to feel the human side of her she thought was lost, but this also makes her remember the dark past she'd buried a long time ago.
A past that will bring the pair to hell and back.
