Sonobu is a junior mage in the Village of Sapphires with her family until the king, Yokubou visits the town in search of the exotic spice Sapphire's Bite. He attacks Sonobu's sister to get it. After a rape and a murder, Sonobu is wrongfully accused of killing the king and is sentenced to the life of a Queen in the Kingdom of Ashes without luxury other than her and the Yokubou's child.
