Hali James has been in Deathbrook Mental Hospital her whole life. Locked up from the age of 5 to treat an obsession with knives and pain, 10 years later she remains, living with no contact with the outside world beyond nurses and fellow patients. By now she is certain that something is wrong in this place.
Patients disappear in the middle of the night, never to be seen again, and the facility is on constant lockdown. No matter the excuses she is given, Hali knows that something is up.
Accompanied by a new friend, she sets about uncovering the secrets of Deathbrook, secrets that have been buried for centuries. But with new secrets coming to the surface, so is something else. Something dark, something dangerous, and something ready to kill...
