"I still don't get. Why did you do it?" Ratchet turned his helm from the computer screen to his old mentor. Said mentor was looking through the Autobot's microscope, preparing for an experiment.
"Do what?" (Y/n) asked gruffly, not moving from his post.
"You know what." The Autobot stated in slight annoyance. Body now somehow facing (Y/n)'s direction. "The short distance pod you shoved me in."
This caused the older bot to stiffen. He hesitated with giving an answer. It should've been obvious as he did tell Ratchet at the time.
"To protect you." (Y/n) spoke carefully. His optics didn't leave the scientific device. He didn't want Ratchet to find the full reason in the older bot's eyes.
"Protect me...?" Ratchet softly repeated in a low murmur.

(A TFP Ratchet x femme reader fanfiction) A love they thought could never be broken. A love they both had since young bots in that small medical class so long ago back on Cybertron. ...A love that abruptly and unwillingly paused for them both. Ratchet felt that sharp pain every day since she offlined hit him deep in the spark, making it almost impossible to breathe. Yet he pushed through, for her. She was gone, and the sparkbond they shared was the only thing that kept him connected to her even though it caused him so much mental and physical pain. Until he impulsively cut it off one day, as his mental health couldn't take the memories that came back to keep him grieving every single day. It hurt him to finally say goodbye, but he needs to let her go so she can Rest in Peace. The bond was erased as Ratchet felt the pain slowly deteriorate away, leaving a forever empty hole in his spark as his lubricated tears leaked down the sides of his cheekplates. It doesn't help that soon into the future, Ratchet will realize just how big of a mistake he made when his supposed offlined sparkmate comes back into his life. Having erased the sparkbond while his lover was in deep stasis, she couldn't file the bond and so her one true love was erased from her processor in an instant. Left with regret for his selfish decisions, Ratchet has one adjective: Make her fall in love with him all over again. Dana slowed to a walk as she got closer, standing within Megatron's arm reach, looking up at the warlord. Her legs were shoulder-width apart, toes pointed outward, indicating that she was unafraid, or at the very least not timid. Her green eyes sparkled as she looked up, not breaking contact with the bright red of the enemy. "I was curious to see if you would be here." Megatron spoke to her, his body also in a more dominating position. Now, he could feel, was the time to intimidate. Here they were, face to face on common ground, neither wholly Decepticon or Autobot, with one of her friends at his mercy. I will make her fear me. "Glad to see I didn't disappoint." A sequel to "Burned." Dana has healed. Six months have passed since Megatron forced himself into exile, and Dana settled back on Earth with her Autobot partner Ratchet. Having finished her high school diploma, the woman opted to apply for a government job, becoming the second liaison for the Autobots and officially interning as Agent Fowler's eventual successor. For six months, things were running smoothly. No conflicts, no new Cybertronians, just her, Ratchet, and Agent Fowler monitoring Earth and putting in safety precautions should Decepticons try to take advantage of the seemingly defenseless Earth. Then Megatron returns, but not to conquer Earth. Instead, the former leader of the Decepticons goes to Dana, and this time he is the one who needs healing. Forging an alliance with Ratchet and beginning to form a new team of allies set on protecting Earth, the warlord seems to be making a change for the better. New faces, friends and enemies, will appear, and a new race against time will begin. Trust is everything, and trusting a Decepticon is no easy task. Alias is an unusual girl. She doesn't remember who she was when she was younger, her first memory was as a 6 year old, stumbling through the woods into an old abandoned barn, wounded and weak. This is where she meets the equally confused Cybertronian, who she named Nickname. As they grow up and learn about the world around them, they realize that the world is a horrible place. And while Nickname has the Decepticons chasing him, Alias has a group of human sized metal warriors that seem endless and relentless chasing her. (Later revealed by Ratchet as power hunters from early Cybertron.) Oh, and did she mention her metal wings? No, oh well... Once they meet the Autobots though, they seem to have found their peace, until they decide to help the Autobots of course. I mean, after Alias tries to kill them.
