Faye Sommors has no family left. Her mom, sister, and grandma have all died in the first four months of the year. Afraid to love for fear of them leaving or dying, she is helpless, lost and alone. But when she is told that her long gone father is alive and living in California, she has no choice but to go and live with him. But the beautiful environment does nothing but bring her down more. Before the summer begins, a boy names Everett befriends her. He is in love with her... But she is afraid to love him back.
