With a small but make-do job, the newly single Camilla Andris lives a rather boring and repetitive life.
That all changes when what is supposed to be a peaceful night at home: goes array and she's attacked by hooded creatures with crimson red eyes and long sharp claws.
Scared for her life, she calls out for help. Help comes- but it's not what she was expecting: at all.

"Shift." His voice hit me like a serrated blade as he stepped out of the crude semicircle of hardened wolves that had formed around me. I pushed myself off of the cold floor for what felt like the thousandth time that day, wiping the small trail of blood coming off of my lip and down my chin. "I won't ask you again."
