Wood chipping has been an important part of every farmer's machine collection. The tree logs are huge and difficult to transport from one place to another. Converting the tree logs in sawdust and chips makes it easy to sell them in market at an elevated cost.
The types of wood chippers available :
1. Screw Chipper
A screw-shaped blade in conical shape is used. It's placed inside the drum to cause a spiral motion through the axis. When the blade is in motion, wood log is sucked inside the machine and cut by the sharp blade edges. The product falls down through the end. The alignment is kept vertical so that there are no residue build up inside the tank which would cause trouble the the operation. The produce is collected in a collecting drum which is then manually checked to see if any large pieces are left uncut.
2. Drum Chipper
These are made to handle all types of wood. These require horizontal feed that gets cut by perpendicular action of the sharp blades. They are comparatively faster in action and needs lesser maintenance. The products have consistent shape and size due to harmonic action of blade.
3. Disk Chipper
The blade is in form of a flywheel, which is in steel disk form arranged in vertical direction. As the logs are inserted, the rotating blade cuts through the wood. Shape of knives depends on the chipping results needed.
All of them have their specialization in the type of job that needs to be done. This machinery is as important as others like flail mowers, tillers, trucks and more. A complete package of machines will only help the farmers to increase their yield, production and profit. However, it is important to invest time and money in the machines which adhere to standard and worth every dollar.
