Maximus Wodlan has worked for the Gathrax Estate for as long as he can remember. His days are the same in and out. Until the night of the Festival of the Wood when his life takes on a new course.
After killing the son of Master Gathrax, Maximus must flee and rid himself of the weapon.
Years after the Second War all known Mages have been killed by the army in the north, leaving the south in the grasps of the six power hungry families. But magic has returned. Caught between warring families and a murderous kingdom North of the forest, Maximus must take on a new identity to survive.
But when a handsome stranger comes to help, Maximus finds himself in a new world in which blood is power, and the forest is home.
