They say a person's life flashes before their eyes before they die, and that was all she could see; old memories. She saw her mom and dad's proud smile as she took her first step, Nathan's cheesy grin after he'd caught her eating sour gummy worms after midnight and Dr. Noles' solemn smile after she had taken her fifth dose of chemo. A soft, warm light illuminated in the corner of her eye but it was soon blocked by a cloud of darkness. With a quiet sigh, Casey Monroe took her last breath, and everything faded into black.
