Hansel and Gretel: The Witch

When reading about villains, you may have no remorse when they are killed or scorned for the rest of their lives. You just pin them as the culprit and move on with your daily lives. But have you ever heard their side of the story? No? I didn't think so. While some people may think that the witch is the culprit in the story of Hansel and Gretel, no one has ever heard her side of the story--the true side.
I wrote this for a creative writing project in middle school so I'm sorry for some of it, but it's still a fun short read!

The Truth Behind Rapunzel (Gothel)
No sooner have I stepped inside than someone speaks up, "Hand over your first born child, Gothel." I spin around to be faced with a mysterious pair of blue eyes and a wry smile. "Rumplestiltskin." I breathe, "I thought you went off to explore the world." "I did. Now I'm back. I will expect you to uphold your promise." He says, running a hand through his long, dark hair. "I made that promise when I was eight." I reply, thinking back. "I'm never going to get married and I'm never going to have children!" I declared decisively. "Really?" Rumplestiltskin inquired. "Yes. Boys are stupid." "Hey! That's not very nice." Rumplestiltskin whined, putting his hands on his hips. I stuck my tongue out. "Fine. Then if you are never going to get married, I suppose you won't mind agreeing to give me your first born child." He challenged. "Alright. Because it will NEVER happen!" "A promise is a promise." Rumplestiltskin says, "You must uphold your word." "For your information, this child isn't even mine." I respond. This takes Rumpelstiltskin by surprise. "She's not?" I explain what happened. "Well, she is a first born child, and now she's yours, so she IS your first born child." He decides.Complete

"You'll stay until I make sure you are not a threat to our pack, little bunny." " Stop calling me a little bunny! Even If I say, who is gonna believe me huh?! They didn't believe me once, what makes you think they will believe me now?! " The little bunny tried to release herself from my grip . "I don't care. You will stay here until I'm convinced that you're not a threat to my pack! " I repeated pulling her even closer if it was possible. " What pack, mate? You use terms I don't understand. What if you decide you are convinced when I'm a 70 year old woman?" When she said 'mate' it was like she called me mate. It was one of the most beautiful feelings I had experienced till that moment. Home Sweet Home
Gretel never had much of an interest in magic, not really. The inn she runs just happens to be made out of candy. But that design choice was made by the home's previous occupant, the witch Agatha, who had tried to steal the youthful bodies of Gretel and her brother Hansel. The witch had misused her magic though, and as punishment the house took away her human form and trapped her inside of a gingerbread one. Gretel has big dreams though. She wants to expand their little cottage into the finest set of lodgings in all of Germany. Money is an issue. As are the tricks Agatha plays against on the customers, always trying to worm her way back into a human form. The money problem could be solved by a wealthy investor, such as her neighbor Thomas, but that man only has one thing on this mind. And then the war came. Across the border the French have overthrown their King and established something called a Republic. German troops march west to avenge the death of their Emperor's brother-in-law and Hansel has marched with them. What's more the magic in the house is fading. The witch Agatha says it needs a new Master to make new rules and new spells, or else it will melt away into nothing. But is Gretel up to the task?Complete

Monsters have always been the bad guys. Fairytales are nothing more than just bedtime stories. This is how the world functions. Or at least this is how the world has taught you to think. This might be the reason why earth is under the rule of modern science. Nobody ever takes the time to just stop and take a look around... Because of modern science, nobody believes in the impossible anymore, everyone has the instinct that if you can't see something it's not there. There's a truth about fairytales and monsters, but if your ever in the mood to know, the only way to find out...is to fall down the rabbit hole.. "Come with me." "Where?" Everyone knows the story of Hansel and Gretel. They were two little kids who found a witch's candy house and were caught eating it. The two children almost got burned alive, but made it out by burning the witch instead and lived happily ever after. Well, this isn't that story. Hansel and Gretel did indeed find a witches house, were almost burned alive and killed a witch, but there was one very different addition to the story. Their little sister named Scarlet joined them on their adventure.Complete
