A first impression is never the best way to judge a person; as an idiom goes, "never judge a book by its cover. It is a metaphorical phrase which means simply, to not prejudge the worth or value of something by its outward appearance alone.
Because of these false perceptions from under the first minute, society has put people into - sometimes derogatory - categories before the individual even knows it.

The light at the end of the tunnel is not the people who make you feel weightless, even though we believe that it is and suddenly stop looking and start giving up on improving yourself. We stop going through the doors but in reality its not the people who push you. This is a story about unfortunate children with unfortunate problems, a special teacher to help them through it, and a clueless bystander who learns to shed her ignorance and see through the veil of pain that many of these kids dawn every day. ------------------------------------------------ This is a project I'm working on for my English class in school. It's called the 20time project. My teacher, an amazing woman, was inspired to do this project after learning about it after attending a sort of convention called Google Summit I believe. Basically, we are dedicating 20% of our time (not including after school hours) to work on a project of our choosing to somehow better the society in which we live. I chose to write a book. Evolution
There are a lot of things you don't really think about until they happen to you. Take rape, for instance. I always thought, "That won't happen to me. I have a boyfriend. I trust him. He would never take advantage of me like that..." I couldn't have been more wrong. Love in this day and age is often confused for manipulation and abuse. The warning signs are here. The things we say will tell us everything that is wrong. You are worth more than what you think you are. It's not your fault. If they tell you otherwise, get out. Burn the bridge. Always remember someone is waiting for you to walk into their life. Someone needs you. Someone loves you. Getting away from all of the wrong people and finding the right ones could save you. I can promise you right now that it saved me. These are the journal entries and selected poems from my first experience of love that left a unpleasant taste in my mouth- quite literally. I am putting this out for the whole world to see because I hope everyone will learn from my experience. People can see. We have no excuses to continue living our lives in ignorance. ...WARNING... One of the favourite lessons reading books has taught me is that you're never alone, not alteast in thoughts and words. There are others who think like you, feel like you and react like you. It's like that sometimes, our unspoken thoughts are the bridges that connect us, even though we might be miles apart. And so, I've written them down in the hope that there are many out there in this world who would be willing to walk these bridges leading to me-the real, raw and unhidden self I am- my heart and mind and soul.
