This book takes in the hardships of being a homosexual in a town that disapprove homosexuals. The male named Lawrence constantly gets harassed by people he thought were friends, and to strangers who doesn't know him.

Being severely depressed by hiding behind someone he is not, he visits a therapist before his mental illness becomes worse on him. The therapist understood what position he was in, and was merciful. The therapist gave him ideas to cope with it and became his best friend. A few months after, he found out in the most horrible way possible that his newly best friend died in a Ethnicity Hate crime, and because he was helping lesbians and bisexuals and gays to embrace theirselves instead of telling them it's bad. Deciding to not give up, Lawrence began to protest quietly and peacefully in front of churches by himself. Everyday people gave him dirty looks, called him homophobic slurs, and physically abused him. One day a boy who was walking in the church with his family saw Lawrence. Falling in love in first sight, he left his unaccepting family and protested with Lawrence while hitting on him. The boy and Lawrence attracted local news stations when they were arrested one time, a mob of people began to trash their protest signs and around the church. People soon realized how dumb they really are, blinded by thr stupidity of religion.
