The life of twelve year - old Orchid Manning is always in the shadow of her friend, Lizzie, who is overpopular in Greenfield Middle School's seventh grade. Everybody knows Lizzy, but not her small friend, Orchid. It only gets worse when her Dad is seriously injured in a dangerous car accident, and when her younger sister, Freesia, catches an illness that cannot be cured. To make it all come crashing down, Orchid's friend, Chase, starts to have hallucinations about a girl with everything coming loose in her life that will soon be overpowered by her own self, and she will die unexpentantly on Orchid's birthday, August 21st from a heart attack.
