This is my first ever serious attempt at creative writing. I wanted to write about the struggles of being a first generation American and the experiences of growing up with immigrant parents. However, I wanted to offer a more hopeful outlook for the parent-child relationship dynamics as one moves into adulthood. I know that a lot of people won't necessary identify with this premise, but I hope that you will still be able to enjoy it nonetheless. My eyes graze at the sky-blue birthday gown adorning my body which is now reduced to a rag. I look at my bloodied hands rising to my eyes and break down to a yowl recalling the harrowing event which displaced my life completely. It is my birthday today but unfortunately, it is the most woeful day of my life. I lost both my parents just a few hours back and killed the man who murdered them. I am already a bloody murderer just at the age of thirteen. The recollection of the sinful thought brought cold shivers down my body. A few hours later... Two men involved in a discussion pass down the alley. I quickly pulled myself down into the bin but regretfully one of them seemed to have already noticed me. "Hey Little Girl! Why are you hiding yourself here?" Gauging me his eyes roamed the sooty place with disdain. I assessed him carefully took the knife that I hid in my back pocket and pointed toward him "Just back off or I am going to kill you." I held myself up with a piercing gaze addressing him. He shook his head with a smile and raised his hands indicating himself to be harmless but immediately pushed his black coat aside revealing the revolver tucked in the waist of his pants. Oh God! I am struck I growled rather to myself.

Once the others heard this they ran to the other person, 85 from the other team. 22 glanced at the bleachers, briefly making eye contact with me, he then quickly looked back, almost as if doing a double take. He held the eye contact this time, I gave him a small smile and he gave me a sweet smile. "He smiled at you!" "It was just a smile," I said going back to my book. "You have a crush." "You definitely do, but we won't say anything, yet." I rolled my eyes at both of them. They were right, no, maybe. He was cute, the way his hair fell, and how he put the other player before himself. I thought it was cute.
