Maya Arnett is known as the "geek" around her school that mainly spends most of her time alone. Everyone uses her to their advantage, either to copy her paper on a test to get a good grade or pestering her in a group project, until she does all the work. People usually bully her for her high intelligence, which leads to her not having many friends. Oh, and let's not forget that she's the captain of her academic team. Lee Evans is the "emo" at the school. He has no friends, is talked about constantly, fails most of his classes, and hates most of society. He often scares people, but not Maya. She's often intrigued by him. One day when Maya is assigned as Lee's tutor, a seed to a developing friendship, or maybe even a relationship, is planted. Who knew that two completely different people could teach each other so many lessons...

Meet Violet Summers. She's the sarcastic girl who doesn't really ever get noticed by anyone. She blends into any crowd because of how "normal" she is. And she loves it. She wouldn't be able to stand the attention of everyone around her. That's why she won't tell Ryan Bloore, her crush for three years, that she practically worships the ground he walks on. Ryan is the captain of the basketball team at their school, so guys see him like he's a god and girls act like he walks on water. If they were to date, all eyes would be on her- she would be under everyone's scrutiny. So she's kept her feelings a secret, and she's done her best to suppress her emotions these past years, but she's realized that she's been so caught up in making people not notice her that she didn't realize how lonely she would be when no one was watching. Now meet Ryder Knight. School bad boy. Quarterback captain and heartthrob. The kind that wears a leather jacket and has tattoos all over his arms. The one who shows up to school riding a motorcycle. Just your average run of the mill "if you get involved with this guy, you will meet some serious trouble" kind of male. Well, too bad for Violet, she's stuck with him now. After all of the years of pushing away her feelings for Ryan because of her fear of being seen, she is now all anyone can look at- because of Ryder. Because of him, she can feel their stares, and she hates him for it. The longer they spend time together, the more Ryder starts to realize he actually enjoys being around her-despite her snarky comments about how much she despises him. And if Violet is being completely honest with herself, she's also starting to realize she might not actually hate the fact that people are noticing her now, but hate the way Ryder makes her feel.
