New Hope Orphanage. It was supposed to be a safe place for children waiting for a family to love them. They were entrusted in the care of the matrons, older women who were expected to care for them and love them. What happened instead was horrifying.
Nick Murray and his family aren't normal. They don't live in the suburbs, they don't own an SUV, and they just moved into an old orphanage. In the long hallways and the dusty rooms, Nick realizes that they aren't alone. Something lurks in the shadows, watching, invading his dreams, taunting him. With the rest of his family oblivious to the sinister nature of their new home, and his life being threatened, Nick must take matters in his own hands.

Michael's Ghost Girl
This story is not getting the attention it deserves, so I am attempting to "re-brand" it. Maybe no one "gets" it. If you want to read about "Normal" teenagers, maybe this isn't for you, it's more complicated than that. It's about a teenager who doesn't fit it, but doesn't want to, who has the best two friends that anyone could have. Who watched his father lose his job in the Recession and then loses his home, and how he copes, especially when he learns that their new house is haunted and the ghost is in his room. Michael was an average kid, although he's always stood out. He was a school jock but also a skater whose long blond hair almost reaches his waist. When his parents lived in a house in a home owners association like all his other friends, life seemed normal. Then his father lost his job and suddenly those "friends" weren't there anymore--except for his two best friends, Short Round and Dewey. The three are skaters, good ones, who live for girls and their skateboards. They're also basically good kids who take pride in being different without paying attention to it. When Michael loses his home and his family has to move they have his back. And they are there for him when the ghost girl starts following him around. Mariah was murdered when she was just 15, her remains were never found, although no one but her and her ghost friend, Crazy Girl, know where their bodies are buried. The house Michael now lives in is the one where she lived with her family, and her old room is now his. She appears to him one night, trying to taunt him, but against her will she is falling in love with the boy who lives in her old room. Slowly the two begin to fall in love and Mariah tells him her story, and of the hidden danger that lies up the street from him. She stays quiet and emotionless during her time in Italy, trying to cope before she meets Nicolas Ricci- the man her family despises yet the man who took interest in her.
