He sighs, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "I know, baby wolf, but I am here. I will always protect you, no matter what."

I groan, feeling the sharp fangs counteract with my werewolf canines. This is all so new, so scary. I don't know what to do, or if I can do it. The only thing keeping me sane is Niklaus. He is the only one who even sort of understands me, and what I'm going through.

When the pain subsides, I pant against his chest, mumbling weakly, "How do you deal with it? Is it always like this?"

I feel him smile against my cheek, "No. You learn to control it. And it is wonderful."
