This is a story about Laura. She is a young girl who has had to deal with a lot of pain and suffering through her life. Having to protect herself at such a young age and having no one to talk to. Read about how she managed to deal with it and how it changed her life for the better. {NOTE: all names have been changed to protect identities as this is all based on true events from my life.}

Diana is falling apart at the seams. After she graduates high school, her parents kick her off their insurance and, no longer able to afford her medication for her bipolar disorder, turns to street drugs as a relief. Nobody in her life is in a rush to get her out of it. Then she overdoses. She ends up in a hospital, because she's terrified if she doesn't, she'll go to jail. While she's there, Diana meets a number of women who have all been abandoned to the system like her, and people she would normally hate become close, if temporary, friends. With their help, recovery doesn't seem so far away, after all. I don't know what's wrong with wattpad, tags are broken and I can't add any more than I already have, so here are some content warnings: attempted suicide, drug overdose (heroin), drug use, self harm (cutting), eating disorder mention (bulimia), implied past sexual assault, victim blaming, psychosis, hallucinations, ocd, bipolar disorder, forced medication, psychiatric hospital

this is a story I wrote a while back based on what goes on in an abused child's home, the dollhouse as Melanie calls it. It's not cut into chapters, but does have stopping points. Warning this story is based on true stories. Every person that the main character encounters has their own story based on true stories submitted to me anonymously by people who work in the psych field or who have been in a psych ward themselves. The main character is based on me and my current mental state. I came up with the idea for this story while I was in a psych ward, I hope it can entertain you while also making you feel things.
