"Ezra, please! You can't do this to me! You promised!

You said that we're a team, that we would stick together no matter what," I could feel his eyes burning into my back, searching for answers I failed to give.

"We fought enemies together, survived death together, and yet... this is what is tearing us apart? Please tell me it isn't so..."

His voice faltered at the end, and I still refused to meet his gaze.

I couldn't bring myself to face the consequence of my decision.

To face him.

I guess that makes me a coward-a cruel one at that.

Summoning courage, I finally speak. "What has to be done will be done, Travis. There is nothing new under the stars.

You're a human from Earth, and I'm... from Mars...and at this point, I doubt I'm even remotely human anymore. It's ...best to stop while I'm ahead. You deserve better. You always have."

Silence fills the air.

Warm, familiar hands wrap around my waist-pathetic tears well up in my eyes.

How I dread the days I won't have this anymore.

"I don't want 'better.' What I want is you."

Ezra, born and raised on MW0228 (Mars), comes to stay temporarily on MW0149 (Earth) due to unexpected circumstances. Along the way, he befriends an Earthling that unknowingly turned his life into an enigma and caused him to question all that he has ever known.
