Emily Sterling hated having to live up to her twin sister Nori. She knew she should be more grateful, seeing as she practically lived off of her sister's popularity. Anyone who loved Eleanor loved Emily, after all. But for some reason, Nori was always that little bit better. Emily knew she shouldn't be upset with her sister for something she couldn't help, but she just couldn't understand it. Nori always seemed to be one step ahead, even though Emily got better grades, and didn't have a reputation of bad breakups. Was it because of her glasses? They had always been a little bit too big. Was it the way she always wore her hair up in a messy bun instead of down, like her sister? Was it because Nori was blonde, and Emily had brown hair, or Nori's eyes were a startlingly beautiful blue color while Emily's were plain old hazel-ish brown? Whatever the case was, it certainly didn't help her when Alex Riley moved into town. Emily could see the way he was drawn to Nori immediately, and she could tell her sister liked him, too. Even after he coughed up a mint that landed in her mouth. Nori broke up with her boyfriend for this kid, which was saying something because Nori was always the one who got dumped. She was too nice to break up with people. Emily knew she was in deep trouble when she started seeing Alex in a different way. What would she do if Nori found out? Her sister would definitely tell Alex, and then she would be the school's biggest loser - second maybe to only Alex himself. It's all Emily can do to hold her head up high and just be his friend. After all, she can always hope that some day there'll be something more, can't she? ------- #1 in alexriley
