When a school loses two students to suicide, they have no choice but to finally take action against the bullying that occurs behind its walls. With the thought of bringing more empathy into the school, the teachers assign a project to every Social Studies class, Freshman to Senior, based on getting to know those around you. Students are sorted into pairs, closely chosen by school staff. In the mix of these students, was Kendall Blake and Allen Morris. What happens when they begin to uncover the others' past and find out secrets they never would have imagined? Through all the late-night rooftop meetings to the three o'clock phone calls, they begin to understand things a little bit better. Including each other.

🏆 ORIGINAL CONTEMPORARY NOVELLA FAVORITE - THE AMBYS 2025 🏆 I would not mind leaving this hell for another. Because I could not care less if I throw away my life of failure and inadequacy as long as you were with me. I was another stranger, another faceless being in the tapestry of your dreams. And you held my heart like a guitar peg, twisting and twisting until I snapped. Playing with my strings until my sound tore to shreds and I vanished into the mere noise of the world. And I did not mind it. Because when you met my eyes, I thought I saw myself reflected in yours. But it was not me who was there. It was my own hell. ˜"°•.˜"°•˜"°•.˜"°•˜"°•.˜"°• © 2023 (First Edition) [10,000 - 15,000 words] [All graphics are made by @sardonictabby] C/TW: Contains discussion about suicide and depression.
