To have your memory wiped and your life stolen away from you is one thing. To then be thrown into a life restricted by four towering walls and surrounded by nothing but strangers is where fight or flight really kicks in. Tiegan had no choice but to find her feet in the Glade. She was the first girl to arrive and had no time to be terrified of the life the boys before her had managed to endure. Just as her arrival as the first girl had been a shock, for Tiegan to arrive alongside a boy left suspicious whispers within the walls because there had only ever been one new Glader at a time. There were so many secrets beyond the walls but it was hard to try and listen to them when life in the Glade was forced to go on like clockwork. Thomas - the boy Tiegan arrived with - can't live restricted within the walls and he does everything to fight his way out. Tiegan can't decide whether the escape that lies beyond the horrors within the maze is better than the restricted life trapped inside the walls of the Glade.
