Dastaan follows the life of an innocent 18-year-old girl named Bano, who is from a very close-knit Muslim family living in Ludhiana, in the pre-1947 era. The story revolves around Bano and her fiancée, Hassan, as they face the trials and tribulations caused by the 1947 partition.

Set during a time when tensions between Hindus and Muslims escalate dramatically, and violence outbreaks all throughout India. Hate crimes between Muslims, Sikhs and Hindus become common, and the fighting spreads all across Indian states, getting threateningly closer to Ludhiana every day. As the fighting becomes more pronounced, Muslims retaliate, leaving nobody safe.

However between all this hate, a beautiful love story was brewing in the city of Ludhiana, a city still protected from all the violence and killings happening throughout the country. Hassan and Bano met at the wedding of Haseena and Saleem, Bano’s brother and Hassan’s aunty. During the wedding, they slowly begin to develop feelings for each other, with Hassan visiting Ludhiana every now and then.

However, will both Bano and Hassan be able be together with the situation around the country worsening each day? With deaths rising drastically day-by-day – will they both be able to protect their love and relationship.
