And the same situation goes for Jordan, him and Chris was childhood friends before Jordan's parents decided to move to another place. 

They made a promise to wait for each other. 

But the promise was broken. When Jordan came back, he thought that Chris would be happy and fulfill his promise. But instead, the Chris he new was already gone. He's not the same, he became mean and was already in a relationship with a cheerleader.
