In a world hundreds of galaxies away from Old Earth's solar system, the Urnahi people live as second class citizens on their own sovereign land with little hope and a meager will to resist. The United Republic of Provinces has colonized them, oppressed them, and shows no signs of changing their policies towards this peaceful people, but not all of the Urnahi have been broken. The Prophecy Safiya Al-Akhad, haunted by forces that terrorize her dreams and aching from the loss of her parents and her brother after the attacks that destroyed her village, is skeptical when approached by the Council of the Holy Way about entering the Order of the Elementals but she's desperate enough to risk her life by accepting the invitation. The trauma caused by the loss of her family has triggered a psychic ability in her called eseeri: an ability that not only makes her a candidate for Al Sahifah, but that links her to the most intricate workings of the universe: to that which is seen and that which is unseen; to that which is illuminated and to that which is shrouded in darkness. As she learns the secrets of the Wind Elemental she forms bonds that will help her through the challenges that she must face. One particular bond, formed with Sekel El Amra, Captain of the Waliyun and Ambassador of the Sovereign Tribes to the United Republic of Provinces, becomes a connection that may be at once the very most important and the most dangerous to her personal well-being as dark forces align to cause her downfall and the destruction of the Sahyunese. | Previously Featured | | Book One of the Moon Chronicles | "To hear, one must be silent." The Power of the tongue and intelligence of a human being is what makes them different from God's other creations. It is what makes them powerful, it is what makes the human being rule every other creation. But they forget to listen and that is what will lead them to their doom ------------------------ Ayah Beizeen is a sixteen-year-old village girl with a peaceful and content life. She has loving parents, a supportive elder brother and an adorable younger brother. But she is different: Ayah was born mute. She didn't cry when she was delivered and hasn't uttered a word ever since. Sometimes, she wishes she could - she was envious of everyone who could convey their emotions through words, for she has no other option but to keep them bottled up inside her. However, Ayah Beizeen has a special friend from the age of five, when she was found on her terrace staring at the Moon. She talks to the Moon and it listens. Talking to the Moon is the only way, Ayah knows, to share her feelings. One night, the Moon comes with strange tidings - it says that everything that she knew about her life is going to change. She has somehow stumbled upon a strange path and the destination is uncertain. It all depends on the choices she makes. A tale of love, heartbreak, dreams, failures but above all - redemption. Follow Ayah's journey as she surpasses all odds. Is she the 'living miracle' that the Voice of the Moon claims her to be? [ Highest rank - #4 ] [ Cover by - @MayTijssen ] [ Unedited - First draft ]
