Evanescence: Fading From Deception

Evan Mercil is an adolescent who always asked the question, "who am I?" He becomes afraid and spellbound when he finds that his heart stops beating, his skin is becoming pale, monstrous fangs are developing in his mouth that cut the tongue, and above all, he begins to hunger for human blood. Evan soon will discover that he is an adopted child. Upon this discovery, he finds that his human life is nothing more than a mirage of what he really is -- a vampire -- simply, a late bloomer.

When Evan runs into his vampire family in Utica, New York, at first, he is in denial of what he is becoming, but his disbelief in the vampire monster only lasts for so long. He realizes that those random outbursts of anger, hunger for blood, and impeccable superhuman capabilities were nothing more but signs of his vampire awakening within. He soon falls in love with the risk taking Essence LaRoux. Upon finding out of Evan's true nature, she decides to help him through this unimaginable transition from human into vampire.

Evan's vampire family may seem no different from a loving human family, but not everyone is so welcoming of the his return. Evan's destiny not only awakens his vampire instincts, but also awakens a postponed rivalry within his coven. Evan is the primary target sought to be destroyed because Evan's transformation into vampire holds a much more deeper meaning than he and his family had originally imagined..one in which his own cousin would kill for.
