"Alice," his throaty voice whispered. His intense eyes appeared as if he was on the brink of insanity. "Who are you? Where am I?" I asked, as my heart began to hammer away. I felt the need to run away yet I couldn't. It was as if fear was pinning me to the ground. His face contorted into fury as he tightly gripped my shoulders drawing blood. Tears began to form in my eyes as I let out a ragged breath. "How can you forget me? Forget us?" He screamed in frustration before disappearing, leaving me stunned. -- She's all my fancy painted her, She's lovely, she's divine, She never can be mine; Yet lov'd I as man never lov'd, A love without decay, Oh! my heart, my heart is breaking For the love of Alice Gray! -Lesley Nelson-Burns © 2018 All Rights Reserved No part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted, in any form or in any means - by electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise - without prior written permission.
