A seventeen-year-old female third class passenger that is a poor artist falls in love with an exquisite soon to be married male first class passenger aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic. James is a first class passenger, soon to be married to his fiance Elizabeth, and he has boarded the R.M.S. Titanic with his mom and his fiance, Elizabeth. Kaylee is a third class passenger on the Titanic who is a poor artist and draws for a living. James and Kaylee meet on the Titanic and he is sure that Kaylee is the one he wants to marry. American James Patrick March spots the third class girl Kaylee Dawson when she drops her paper. James is on his way to California to marry his rich snobby fiancé Elizabeth Johnson. Kaylee feels helplessly trapped by her poor situation the night after her and James dance in his stateroom and makes her way to the aft deck and thinks of suicide until she is rescued by James. Elizabeth is therefore obliged to invite Kaylee to dine at their first-class table where she suffers through the slights of her snobbish hosts. In return, Kaylee spirits James off to third class for an evening of dancing, giving him the time of his life, being not having to dance formally as her normally does when he is with Elizabeth in first class. Deciding to forsake his intended future all together, James asks Kaylee, who has barely made her living making sketches on the streets of England, to draw him in his chair, wearing the suit Elizabeth has given him. Elizabeth finds out and has Kaylee locked away. Soon afterwards, the ship hits an iceberg and James must find Kaylee while both must run from Elizabeth even as the ship sinks deeper into the freezing ice filled water.
